Eas Myoplex Deluxe
Do protein bars help you gain weight?
I am a 14 year old and I play high-school football. I only weigh 116 lbs. Im really trying to gain weight. About 2-4 lbs. each month. I use EAS Myoplex Deluxe Protein Bars.
This is the off-season and we have strength tests once every month. (Which is basically just to show coaches how we’ve improved in weight lifting and weight itself.) At the first one, I weighed about 114 lbs. The next month, I weighed in at about 106! (With the protein bars.) I was very disappointed.
I’m not sure if I in-took too much protein or what. I also had a bit of diarrhea that day.
Should I keep using the protein bars? Should I use something different?
Help?!
It’s simple:
calories in < calories out (weight loss)
calories in = calories out (no change)
calories in > calories out (weight gain)
Protein bars don’t have that many calories in them (what like 300 calories, that’s nothing!). You are much better off with actual food. Take whole milk for example. Whole milk has more calories than protein bars, more protein than protein bars, is tastier than protein bars, and costs less than protein bars.

I can assure you 100% you did not take in too much protein. My guess is you are taking in waaaay to little protein. You need at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. Since you weight so little, I would suggest even more. Maybe 130 or 140 grams of protein per day.
